Anu ki Amma
A little girl who wants to be like her mother. As kids, we all have that innocent longing to copy our parents. But we do not realise what we are aspiring for...it's a childish whim. The underlying theme, though, is of how a girl is tamed to fit a certain "image" since childhood and how people decide the standards of "good" and "bad" character. I have used the visual metaphor of a long thick braid, which is symbolic of a good, sincere, docile, domestic girl in our culture but can also symbolise the shackles or tangles in our society. The little girl is fascinated by her mother's long hair. All she wants is long hair but, there are certain guidelines she must follow if she wants them.
